Shiny Gun Slider Plating using Electroplating Method

We can compare gun color with dark grey. That kind of colors are often used in different weapons like guns, rifles. This slider color is resembled with the colors used in different guns which made them calling gun color which makes people assume the color easy to understand.

This color looks premium and has some more advantages. It resists different scratches or dirt over it. This slider can be matched easily with any light grey or grey fabrics. We use gun color slider in different dresses, shoes, school bags.

We can apply gun color into sliders in different ways like painting, spraying or electroplating. If the color is electroplated then it will be longer lasting and will look much attractive. In this article we will discuss how we can make gun color to sliders using slider electroplating.

What is Electroplating?

Electroplating, is a way in which we make coating of one material over another. If the electroplating is done by following the proper guidance, then It makes a very strong coating that stays for a long time over the slider body. After the coating the main material loses its own properties and looks like the materials from where we made the plating. It changes color.

Note:

1. Make sure the sliders are separated well from the frame, when they were taken out from Die casting machine.

2. Make the required polishing process. For polishing the sliders, we can use different high-quality polishing machines. Those machines use polishing stones to make the polishing process complete.

For Copper Plating, the sliders go through the Copper Plating Machine (CPM), It requires 1 hour for copper plating process. All types of slider plating needs to go through this plating process (Copper Plating) first. Otherwise we can’t have the expected color. Here is a sample copper plating machine.

For Copper plating, we have some copper plates which works like Anode. For reference, In the Figure 6 we can see the marked materials at the left which called copper plates and works like Anode.

In the other hand the whitish liquid is made by Sodium Solution. There are 2 copper filled cylinders inside the slider chamber which works like Cathode.

Here the Copper Plates works like the source of electrons (Negative). From where the electrons flow through the whitish liquid to the zipper sliders (Positive) and make the copper plating. That plating process should be done at least 40 minutes to 1.5 hours according to slider color.  

(We can use this Chamber according to slider quantity this machine has 2 Chambers)

After Copper Plating the sliders looks like this. It fully becomes copper color. We will have to wash the sliders 3 times After the copper plating.

After 3 times wash, we will take the sliders into the Hydrogen Peroxide Tank. There we will have to wash the sliders for 2-3 minutes by shaking well So that all of the areas of the slider would cover by Hydrogen Peroxide well.

Next Step is to Shiny Nickel-Plating, we will do that plating for 10 minutes. Alternatively, we can also do Shiny Gold Plating instead of Shiny Nickel Plating, if you do not have shiny Nickel Chemicals.

The Last Step is to Shiny Gun-Plating, we will Take that Shiny Silver Sliders out and put it to shiny Gun Chemical Tank. The sliders will be plated for 1 hour 40 minutes in that plating chamber and after that we will take that sliders out and check if we have our desired color or not. If Ok we will make it ready for shipment otherwise, we will send it again into Gun Plating Chamber.
